In some countries, secondary schools provide general education across a wide range of subjects. In some other countries, children focus on a narrow range of subjects related to particular career.

Which of these two educational systems is more appropriate for today’s world?

The utilitarian perspective is especially common in countries where college tuition fees are prohibitively high or the economy is unstable. Under these conditions, secondary school graduates from impoverished families may often prioritize immediate employment over pursuing a university degree.
